Foundation Programs

The Minnesota Hospice Foundation is committed to aiding people with compassion, care, and dignity at end-of-life. Our goal is to normalize discussions surrounding death, dying, bereavement, and loss by promoting hospice access, utilization, supporting exceptional end-of- life care, guidance, and education throughout the community. We believe that by focusing on charity care, special patient needs, community support, education, and training, we can promote understanding and assist individuals, families, and communities in navigating end-of- life and grief in positive and healthy ways.

Your gift will support these initiatives and help others to achieve their end-of-life goals.

Foundation Initiatives

Charity Care

Everyone deserves love, compassion, and dignity at the end of life. Minnesota Hospice strives to empower people to live as fully as possible on their terms by providing a dedicated team to walk alongside them during this part of life’s sacred journey by providing pain and symptom management, psychosocial, and spiritual support. Although hospice is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance, there are still some people who “fall through the cracks” in the system. Your generous donations allow us to fund much needed hospice services to patients and their families, regardless of ability to pay.

Special Patient Care Needs

Every person’s journey toward death is unique. The goal of hospice care is to meet every individual and family where they are and to work with them to find comfort, meaning, purpose, peace, and closure. Sometimes, patients have a special need or request at end-of-life, such as saying goodbye to a loved one who lives far away in person, a piece of equipment that is difficult to procure, a special religious ceremony, or “bucket list” activity. This program is intended to help cover these types of special needs and requests at end-of-life.

Community Support

The Minnesota Hospice Foundation believes in providing support to the whole community. Death, dying, and grief are a part of life—yet these topics are often difficult to discuss and local resources for support are sometimes lacking or unavailable. The Minnesota Hospice Foundation aims to improve awareness, knowledge, access, and assistance on end-of-life and grief by providing classes, workshops, and support groups to the public. Your gift will help ensure the continuation of these vital programs throughout the Minnesota Hospice service area.

Education & Training

Education and training are important aspects of providing exceptional hospice care to the dying and their loved ones. This program provides limited support to internal Minnesota Hospice staff seeking to improve their knowledge and skills through continuing education, workshops, seminars, and conferences. Your generous donation ensures the Minnesota Hospice team can implement best practices and new research into our gold standard of care.
